Aquatic therapy offers an alternative environment for physical therapy. If you have restrictions on your physical therapy program or have a restricted weight-bearing status after surgery, aquatic therapy might be ideal for you.
The buoyancy of water reduces the stress of gravity so you can exercise more easily, even if you have partial weight-bearing status. The water pressure helps decrease swelling in joints and soft tissue, providing support and stability for balance during exercises. The warmth of the water helps relax the muscles and increase blood flow, which helps relieve pain and stiffness.
Sessions are guided by our trained therapists in a heated pool, using individualized exercises to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and pain relief. Sessions typically last 30–60 minutes and can be adapted for all fitness levels.
